  I moved to Jasper about 2.5 years ago. I visited 11 of the 14 churches in Jasper at that time. Only one church bothered to even acknowledge me with a smile, a greeting or a handshake as I entered the door. Instead, it was just cold stares from the greeters and ushers like I was an outsider, even though I was wearing the proper attire for each church. And then I visited Woodstock Church. It's a go in your jeans, comfortable shoes and T-shirt/dress shirt kind of church with a group of locals who are well aware of the sacrifice that Jesus made for them.
  
  You will be greeted with a handshake, free coffee, danishes or other homemade goods and a small, but vibrant group of attendees. The church has a vibe of being relaxed, but genuinely focused on encouraging its attendees to get to know Jesus on a personal level. Sometimes the messages are that weekend's televised message from pastor Johnny Hunt at Woodstock Baptist church, their parent church who planted them in Jasper for just the reasons I mentioned previously. This is a sigh of relief to some who would prefer watching a message on TV instead of the intimidation of a pastor speaking near them. But they also have a great, young pastor in his late 30's who loves to share, encourage and teach from the bible.
  
  You've seen this church in action around town as the ones who gave away 10 gallons of free gas to every vehicle that pulled to the BP's pump on Highway 53 & 575. They do local food and clothing drives for residents in Pickens County and have an exploding ministry for children and teenagers throughout the week, as well as small-groups for adults to meet in homes around Jasper and eat, fellowship and study the bible with each other.
  
  All in all, it is a great "little" church with a big heart for that which matters, people. The messages aren't radical, but the members are what you might call radical for Jesus. That is to say bold and courageous to meet the needs of their fellow neighbors and to spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Throw on your comfy clothes, grab your children if you have some, and bring the whole family for a nice, unique, and enjoyable experience that you won't easily find around Pickens county.
  
  By the way, I am not a member of the church; just someone who recognizes authentic Christian followers when I see it.
